This is an advanced, specialized
Continuing Education Training created for infant massage instructors who
have previously attended an infant massage instructor certification course
and want more training in facilitating touch and massage
for infants and children of diverse backgrounds. This approach enables
instructors to mindfully individualize their touch instruction to meet
the unique needs of each family.
In this training we address the application of touch
and massage for children with special
needs such as cerebral palsy, global delays, down syndrome, etc.
We will emphasize a more in-depth study of the sensory system with regard
to children with special needs, and incorporate an expanded framework
of touch and massage movements.
This training also addresses instructor
skill-building for adapting touch and massage to infants born Biologically
or Environmentally At-Risk, such as infant born preterm, drug
exposed, or medically fragile. We will also include positioning, precautions,
and strategies for facilitating touch within different family systems
with regard to the diverse emotional states of parents.
